Wilma Woiwod
Wilma Jean “Billie” Woiwod, 80, 515 10th Ave N., Clear Lake, Iowa, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2012 at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa.
A Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Garner, with Rev. Carl Hedberg officiating. Interment was at the St. John’s Cemetery, Rural Garner. Memorials may be given to the St. John’s Cemetery in her name.
Billie was born Dec. 18, 1931 in Clear Lake, the daughter of Grant L. and Pauline (Wright) Fox. She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1950. Billie married Laurice “Pete” Woiwod March 21, 1951 at St. John’s Lutheran Church. They were supposed to be married on the 18th but because of a snowstorm, they had to move the date to the 21st. Billie was a housewife. She loved to crochet and work in the garden growing plants. Along with her two children she was mother to all in the neighborhood.
Billie and her husband, Pete, took care of the church and cemetery property for over 30 years. They loved to attend auctions and the children’s sporting events. Billie, with Pete, was an avid Hawkeye fan. They are members of St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Garner.
Billie is survived by her husband, Laurice “Pete” Woiwod, Clear Lake; two children, Beverly Jean (Lynn) Kelck, West Union, Iowa, and Richard Woiwod, Clear Lake; five grandchildren, Kellie Kelck, Wyoming, Iowa, Krista Kelck, West Union, Iowa, Brandi (Adam) Betts, Mason City, Ryan Woiwod and his special friend, Michelle, Waterloo, Iowa, and Abby Woiwod Fertile, Iowa; and three great-grandchildren, Jason, Keegan and Jackson Betts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Duane Fox and an infant brother.
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
