Wayne Muhlenbruch

Wayne O. Muhlenbruch, 80, of Clear Lake, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015, at the Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake.

A celebration of Wayne’s life was held on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake.  The family suggests memorials to Wayne O. Muhlenbruch memorial fund.

Wayne was born on March 15, 1934, in rural Rockwell, Iowa, the son of John and Laura (Stadtlander) Muhlenbruch.  He graduated from Swaledale High School in 1951.

He married Alvina DeVries on March 22, 1953, in Thornton, Iowa.  They lived in Swaledale from 1953-1963, they then moved to Clear Lake.  He worked for Davis-Keith Construction and helped build the Clear Lake Band Shell and Clear Lake United Methodist Church.  He then went to work for Tyden Feeds as a feed salesman for about 30 years.

Wayne enjoyed fishing, watching sports, playing cards, and having coffee with his buddies. 

He is survived by his wife, Alvina Muhlenbruch, Clear Lake; three children, Barb (Doug) Floy, Clear Lake, Jim (Kelley) Muhlenbruch, Abingdon, Virg., and Thomas (Alice Welch) Muhlenbruch, Ames, Iowa; four grandchildren, Jason Floy, Clear Lake, Bradley (Erin) Floy, Iowa City, Iowa, Scott (Sarah) Floy, Chicago, Ill., and Matthew (Jamie) Muhlenbruch, Phoenix, Az.; great-granddaughter, Presley Muhlenbruch; two step granddaughters, Emma Welch, Ames, Iowa, and Lori Welch, Phoenix; and one sister, Mardene Berding, Mason City, Iowa.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Mervin, LaVerle and Laurel Muhlenbruch; and one sister, Irene Dannen.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
