Two new members will join experience on City Council

    Four Clear Lake City Council Representatives will be elected Tuesday, Nov. 8.
    Incumbents Mike Callanan and Terry Unsworth are unopposed in their bid to continue to serve in the two at-large positions on the Council.  Unsworth originally served one term on the Council, ending in December, 2009, representing the Second Ward.  He was appointed to the at-large position formerly held by Jon Monson in September, 2010.  His appointment was for the period ending with the November, 2011 election.  A pair of newcomers will also join the Council.  Dana Brant is the candidate for the First

Ward seat being vacated by Shane Cooney. Jim Boehnke is the only candidate for the Third Ward seat held by Ben Furleigh.

  Please supply a brief personal biography: My name is Dana Brant.  My wife is Kristi Brant and we have four kids, Madison (14), Mikayla (11), Macey (4) and Jeremy (1).  I went to York College in York, Neb.  We moved to Clear Lake in 2001 with Kristi’s parents to start a church.  I am very busy as a somewhat stay-at-home dad, tending to my four kids’ needs and also doing my best to manage and maintain our seven rental buildings.  I enjoy the outdoors, RVing and riding my four-wheeler when I can find the time.

   Please supply a brief personal biography: Mike Callanan, native of  Clear Lake, 1967 graduate of Clear Lake High School, University of Northern Iowa graduate, retired high school social studies teacher and coach.  Taught the final 28 years at Clear Lake High School. Current work involvement includes substitute teaching, Clear Lake school district energy manager, and assistant varsity boys track coach.
