Travis Hosmer

Travis William Hosmer went to be with the Lord Jesus Thursday, July 25, 2024, while in hospice care at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City. He was surrounded by family and many prayers from friends.

Travis was born July 1, 1975, at Mercy Hospital in Mason City. He is the eldest son of John and Rebecca Hosmer.

Travis attended St. Joseph elementary, Jefferson Elementary, John Adams Middle School and Mason City High School.

Travis was active in marching band, choir and NIACC singers. He played the saxophone.

He received a bachelor’s degree in automotive marketing and management from Northwood University in Midland Michigan.

Travis loved cars. He enjoyed analyzing the car market and became very knowledgeable in values and appraisal. Even as a child he would line up his matchbox cars in straight lines so they would look like his grandfather’s auto dealership, Bill Lyons Cars. He was a car guy through and through.

He married Kristen Cobb from Lowell, Michigan in January 2014. In 2019 they welcomed their only child Harper.

Travis was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in late summer of 2022. He began an aggressive treatment program at Mayo Clinic Rochester in October 2022. This was a difficult time for Travis and his family. He also received care from the Mason City Cancer Center.

Travis confessed Jesus Christ as his savior at a young age, and reaffirmed his commitment as a young adult through the Alpha program at Mason City First Covenant Church.

His strong faith and unwavering hope was an inspiration to his doctors and family.

Travis is survived by Harper, his 5-year-old daughter whom he loved dearly; his father and mother, John and Rebecca Hosmer; Jeremiah, his “Irish twin” brother with whom he was very close. They were only 11 months apart and were very creative in the trouble they could get into; His sister Maura, who was a source of comfort and reassurance; his nieces Bailee, Beyonca, Tatum, Ruby and Isla, and nephew Elijah.

Travis’s grandparents Bill and LaVon “Bonnie” Lyons were very active and deeply respected in Travis’s life. They preceded him in death along with his Aunt Debbie Lyons.

“When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”  “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” Corinthians 15:54

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 31, at Zion Lutheran Church 112 4th Ave North, Clear Lake, with Lay Minister Al Berge officiating. A private family graveside will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.
