Toppin to represent G-H/V/W-H team
The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura/West Hancock cross country program will be well represented at the State Cross Country meet to be held this weekend in Fort Dodge.
The girls team placed third in the meet and will run at State as a team. The team scored 87 points, behind Bishop Heelan who had 53 points and MOC-FC with 75 points. Kamille Kronemann was the top runner for the girl’s team with a third place finish in 15:01. Nicole Burgardt and Maddie Tusha finished in 12th and 13th places respectively.
The boys were just shy of placing as a team. The group placed fourth with 102 points. Bishop Heelan won the team placement with 46 points, followed by MOC-FV with 72 points and Webster City was third with 90 points. G-H/V/W-H had two individual boys place in the top 10 and they will be advancing to the State Meet. Ventura’s Joel Toppin led the runners with a third place finish in 16:27. Brad Nedved also placed with a fifth place finish in 16:24. Ventura’s Jeff O’Brien placed 53rd with a time of 18:00.
“I though that the boys team ran great, but just came up a little short,” said Coach Jeff Short. “They had a great season and Joel and Brad get one more race.”
