Todd Alan Heimdal

Todd Alan Heimdal, 61, of Eagan, Minn. ran into the arms of his Savior on September 25, 2024, surrounded by his loving family after a long fight with glioblastoma. Todd was born in Rochester, Minn. to Dean and Geraldine Heimdal and was the youngest of five kids. They moved to Clear Lake when Todd was two and he spent his growing up years there participating in many sports such as karate, football, basketball and track. Todd enjoyed teasing his three sisters Cynthia, JoAnn and Julie (a hobby that he never outgrew) as well as riding motorcycle, hunting and fishing with his big brother Ken and friends.

His senior year, he moved to Fergus Falls, Minn. attending Hillcrest Lutheran Academy where he met the love of his life, Kari Borowski, his wife of 40 years. Together they had three children, Kayla, Rikki and Trent. Todd was hired by the U.S. Postal service in 1988, where he was employed for 31 years. Todd worked hard, but always prioritized family time and spent his days coaching his kids’ sports teams, and out on the lake fishing or doing water sports. Todd’s other passions included working with youth ministry and Musky fishing with many great friends. In 2009, he got his favorite title of “Papa” and he and Kari were blessed with 10 grandchildren.

In 2019 Todd retired and fulfilled his and Kari’s dream of living on Moon Lake in Brandon, Minn. completing a full renovation on a dilapidated cabin and turning it into a home filled with laughter and love. Todd loved people well and often strangers became friends. Relationships were what he treasured most in life, encouraging everyone he met to love each other the way Jesus loves us, and stressing that the most important relationship of all is the one with the Savior.

Preceding Todd in death were his grandparents, Orin and Marie Heimdal, Gerhard and Serina Skartland; mother, Geraldine Smith; father-in-law, Roger Borowski; and nephew, Nate Heimdal.

Todd is survived by wife, Kari Heimdal; children, Kayla (Scott) Brekke, Rikki (Jesse) Gulbranson, Trent (Janelle) Heimdal; grandkids, Skye and Blaire Brekke, Jace, Bennett, Brooks, Maverick and Kendall Gulbranson, Bentley, Harper and Walker Heimdal; father, Dean Heimdal; step-mom, Gloria Heimdal; mother-in-law, Kay Borowski; step-dad, Marvin Smith; brother, Ken (Pam) Heimdal; sisters, Cynthia (Dave) Brown, JoAnn (Tom) Maulsby, and Julie (Greg) Meier; brothers-in-law, Wes (Sheila) Borowski and Gene (Joni) Kubesh; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
