Tennis girls finish second
The Clear Lake girls tennis team finished second at the Waverly Quad held at Wartburg College Thursday, May 7. The Lions defeated Aplington-Parkersburg and Waterloo East. Their only loss of the night was to Waverly.
Kylie Bottjen, playing in number two singles matches, went 3-0 on the day. Number one player Kirsten Jordan went 1-2, with one of her losses coming to a state qualifier, 4-10.
“This was a good opportunity to play some teams outside of our conference as we get ready for team and individual competition, Saturday, May 16, and Thursday, May 21,” said Coach Mary Jo Peterson.

Tennis Regionals open May 16
Clear Lake will open the post-season with a Regional tennis match against Hampton-Dumont Saturday, May 16. The 9 a.m. match will be played at Waverly. The winner will take on the winner of Dike-New Hartford versus Waverly-Shell Rock. That match will be played at 1 p.m. May 16.
The Regional final is set for Saturday, May 23, at Decorah.
