Stillman Wickert
Stillman Francis Wickert, age 81, passed away peacefully with his family by his bedside on March 1, 2013.
A memorial Mass for Stillman will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1001 9th Ave. S, Clear Lake, with the Reverend John Gossman as celebrant. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
Should friends desire, memorials may be left to Hospice of North Iowa.
He was born in Lebanan, S.D., to John and Sylvia Wickert on Dec. 28, 1931. For the past 22 years he has resided with his wife, Cynthia, in the Clear Lake area.
Stillman was well known for his keen sense of humor and quick wit. While his life-long occupation was selling insurance, in his youth he was a talented musician and played with a variety of big swing bands in southern Minnesota and Northern Iowa. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working and spending time with his family.
Stillman is survived by his wife, Cynthia Wickert, of Ventura; daughter, Shelley Nelson, of Faribault, Minn.; son, Jon Wickert of Fairmont, Minn.; daughter, Julie and husband, Del Spronk, of Faribault, Minn.; and son, Mark Wickert of Faribault, Minn. His step children are Brian Vaage of Ventura and Martin Vaage of Savage, Minn.
Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
