Runners record best times of season at Algona Meet

Several Clear Lake runners recorded their best times of the season while competing at Algona Monday, Sept. 29.  The meet included 18-teams.  

Although they did not field a full squad, four freshman girls made quite a statement about things to come.  

Gretchen Jones shaved 45-seconds off her personal best time to finish seventh in the field of 120 runners.  Tali Tesar was 98th and Molly Dugan finished in 102nd, both breaking the 20-minute barrier for the first time this season.  Tesar was clocked in 19:33 and Dugan ran a 19:56.  Krystal Lu was right behind, finishing 117th in 21:48.

The varsity boys were led by Ryan Faught, who posted his best time of the season.  He was 23rd in the field of 125 runners in a time of 17:24.  Tanner Storbeck’s time of 17:46 was good for 32nd place.  It was the first time this season he has broken the 18-minute barrier.

Alex Enabnit, Spencer Orr and Sam Pedelty ran as a pack and finished 54th, 65th and 66th respectively.  Enabnit crossed the finish line in 18:26.  Orr and Pedelty were both clocked in 18:48, which was a personal best for Pedelty.

Also competing for the Lions was Kaleb Froiland, who was 86th in 19:48, and Sam Jones, 95th in 19:58.

As a team, the Lions were ninth overall among the 18-teams.
