Robert “Bob” William Hawley
Robert “Bob” William Hawley 87, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2023, at the Rockwell Community Nursing Home, Rockwell, Iowa.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 24, at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with Randy Messer conducting the service. Inurnment took place at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Robert “Bob” William Hawley was born Sept. 12, 1936, in Vinton, Iowa the son of Bill and Louise (Howard) Hawley. Robert graduated from Mason City High School in the class of 1955. After graduation he attended Mason City Junior College and received his bachelor’s degree in business from Parsons College, Fairfield, Iowa. Bob was united in marriage to Alice Vanderwal on March 28, 1964, at the Baptist Church, Pella, Iowa; to this union two sons were born.
Bob began working for General Motors in Minneapolis, Minn. transferring him to many of their locations. He retired after 30 years with the company.
Bob enjoyed traveling to Fort Meyers, Fla. with Alice during the winters. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Bob was a member of the Noon Lions and Clear Lake Yacht Club.
Bob is survived by his son, Douglas (Jody) Hawley, of Clive, grandchildren, Josh (Paige) Hawley, of Clear Lake, Rachel Hawley, of Waukee; and one niece, Leslie Hawley, of Boston, Mass.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alice; son, Greg; his brother and sister-in-law, David (Julie) Hawley; and niece, Chris Hawley.
Ward-Van Slyke was in charge of arrangements.
