Proposed memorial moved

A mock-up of a proposed veteran’s memorial has been moved to a third potential location for the public to review.  It is now stationed at the corner of 8th Street and Main Avenue.

The local Veteran’s Memorial Task Force identified three potential locations to place the display, constructed to scale. In January it was at the Seawall in downtown Clear Lake and in early February it was moved to the former City Beach water tower area. 

Comments and suggestions about the mock-up’s location can be made by e-mail to: [email protected] and by regular mail addressed to Veterans Memorial Task Force, P.O. Box 185, Clear Lake, Iowa  50428 or dropped off at City Hall.

The task force will be accepting public comments for consideration until the end of March.  The group expects to meet in April to determine if a recommendation can be made to the City Council or if additional research will be required.
