P&R asks public to suggest names for new recreation area
What’s in a name?
The Clear Lake Parks and Recreation Board of Directors is hoping creative Clear Lakers can provide an imaginative name for the city’s recreation area located on 12th Avenue South.
Board President Chyrl Bergvig said the area is beginning to take shape and the group is anxious to give it a name and heighten public awareness of the space.
“We’ve got a lot of good things happening there and it’s time to put a name on it,” she said.
P&R Director Randy Miller said he considers the 12th Avenue South name which has been used for the area “more of a location than a name.” He is hopeful the public will submit creative ideas for a name.
Improvements to the soccer fields at the site have been completed and plans for an asphalt walking/fitness trail through the site are being finalized and may be constructed this year, depending on funding, said Miller.
