Police Department hiring

Police Lieutenant Paul Chizek  reported to the Council that the department has begun advertising to hire another police officer.  The deadline for applications is Jan. 25.  

He noted the city has an April 20 slot reserved at the State Academy in the event the person chosen for the position is not already a certified officer. 

 The Academy is a 14-week program.  The department has been operating with one fewer officer since the retirement of Police Chief Greg Peterson early last year.  Lieutenant Rex McChesney was named interim chief.  

Mayor Crabb commended Lieutenants Chizek and Deb Ryg for their representation of the department at McChesney’s Dec. 30 funeral.  Chizek said the entire department was glad to honor McChesney.
