Ouverson signs to play volleyball at NIACC
Clear Lake’s Carly Ouverson has signed on to play volleyball for North Iowa Area Community College in the fall.
Ouverson, named to the North Central Conference elite volleyball team following her senior season, was a master at setting up the Lion offense. She recorded an amazing 550
assists in the 2012 season, an average of 6.5 per set. She was also among the Lions’ team leaders in serving, going 241/272 (88 percent). She tied for a team-high 38 aces in 84 sets played this season.
“Carly is a great example of hard work paying off,” said Clear Lake Coach Scott Swenson. “She has spent countless hours in the off-season working on her setting abilities. I am thrilled to see her getting the opportunity to get assists to college hitters and watching her show off her skills at the college level at NIACC for Coach Brandt.”
Coach Chris Brandt said she expects Ouverson to step right into her starting line-up in the fall. “I have had the pleasure of watching Carly for a couple of years and I love the fact she understands the fast tempo of the game.” Brandt adds that she is especially pleased to keep talented local athletes in the North Iowa.
Ouverson is the seventh member of Brandt’s recruiting class for the 2013 fall season.
The Lady Trojans have also signed Riley Quintas (Eagle Grove), Brianna Haugen (Clear Lake), Hallie Erdahl (Lake Mills), Grace Olmstead (Waterloo), Madison Craighton (Hampton-Dumont) and Sydney Ischette (Wolsey, S.D.).
