Nathan Barz

Nathan A. Barz, 35, of Ventura, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.

A memorial visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday, March 13 at Music Man Square in Mason City. A time of sharing will begin at 11 a.m., followed by a luncheon. 

Memorials may be directed to Music Man Square or the Humane Society. Cataldo Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Nathan Allen Barz, the son of Mark and Dalena (Nielsen) Barz, was born on February 16, 1990, in Mason City. Nate grew up in Ventura and graduated from Ventura High School in 2008. He worked at the Viking Drive Inn in Ventura during the summers and later took on a management role there. Nate was employed at McKesson’s in Clear Lake until 2022. A true animal lover, Nate cherished his pets, especially his cats. He found joy in video games and was a devoted fan of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Nate is survived by his parents, Mark and Dalena Barz of Ventura; three sisters, Erika Kirby of Omaha, Neb., Norra Dakin (Ryan Prindle) of Omaha, Neb., and Melissa (Robb) Pfohl of Oklahoma City, Ok.; nieces and nephews, Meredith and Sam Kirby, Kori Prindle, Casper and Evan Muessigmann and El Prindle; aunts and uncles, Christine Holt, Dixie Rottinghaus, Kenneth (Sandy) Nielsen and Mike Barz.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Al and Ihla Jean Barz; maternal grandparents, Don Nielsen and Doris Drury; and an uncle, Daniel Barz.

Nate will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His warmth, laughter, and spirit will be remembered fondly.
