Nancy J. Miller
Nancy Jane Miller, 85, of Independence, Iowa, died peacefully on June 18, 2014 at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence. Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Independence, with Rev. Don Plamondon officiating. Interment was in St. John’s Cemetery.
Nancy was born on June 20, 1928 in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Oscar and Gertrude (Schebler) Petersen. She was a graduate of Clear Lake High School and
attended North Iowa Area Community College, in Mason City. On Sept. 23, 1950 Nancy was united in marriage to Roger Miller in Clear Lake. They made their home in Independence in 1963 where she worked at St. John’s Catholic Schools for 18 years. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and many other things, but she loved spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Roger, Independence; her children, Laurie (Fred) Greiner, Boone, Iowa, Jeff (Nan) Miller, Elbert, Colo., Tim Miller, Ankeny, Iowa, Steve (Donna) Miller, Independence, and Ann (John) Ohl, Independence; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Doris May, Ottumwa, Iowa, Carol Reider, Leesburg, Fla., and Sue Petersen, Phoenix, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, was in charge of arrangements.
