Motorcyclist air-lifted after crashing into traffic signal

A Ventura man was air-lifted to Iowa City after the motorcycle he was riding struck a temporary stop light trailer south of Ventura Friday night, April 25.

Cory L. West, 41, was transported by Mercy Air Med to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa after the accident, which took place at 11:38 p.m. Friday on Couty Road S-14 one-quarter mile south of Ventura, according to a release from the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department.  Wood was later transferred to an Iowa City hospital.

His condition was not available at presstime.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, Wood was northbound on S-14 and traveled onto the closed portion of the lane.  He lost control and struck a temporary stop light trailer.  

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, Clear Lake Police Department, Clear Lake Fire and Rescue and Ventura Fire Department assisted at the scene.
