Mercy Family Clinic-Clear Lake collects donations for Nepal Relief Fund
Mercy Family Clinic – Clear Lake is accepting donations of household items and necessities to send to the Nepal Relief Fund for victims of the April 25 earthquake. Items can be dropped off at the clinic, 1410 6th Ave. S., in Clear Lake, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through May 22.
The earthquake has been called the most powerful disaster to strike Nepal since 1934. News reports now estimate that 7,000 people were killed and twice as many were injured. Hundreds of thousands of houses were destroyed rendering people homeless with entire villages flattened across many districts of the country.
Nirmal Bastola, M.D., a physician at Mercy Family Clinic – Clear Lake, is a Nepal native. Some of his family live there and were affected by the disaster.
“This is devastating for the entire country. Luckily, my family is among those who were not harmed physically. But as many families, the loss of property is great. Picking up the pieces is how they will more forward and that’s how we can help, through the gift of donation,” said Bastola.
Mercy Family Clinic – Clear Lake will send the items through FedEx to the Nepal Victims.
