Memorial mock-up moved to new location; Public comment encouraged
A mock-up of a proposed veteran’s memorial has been moved to a second potential location for the public to review.
The local Veteran’s Memorial Task Force has identified three potential locations to place the display, constructed to scale, of the
proposed memorial. In January it was at the Seawall in downtown Clear Lake. Now the mock-up is at the former City Beach water tower area. In approximately two weeks it will be moved to the Main Avenue entrance off South 8th Street.
Comments and suggestions about the mock-up’s location can be made by e-mail to: [email protected] and by regular mail addressed to Veterans Memorial Task Force, P.O. Box 185, Clear Lake, Iowa, 50428 or dropped off at City Hall.
The task force will be accepting public comments for consideration until the end of March. The group expects to meet in April to determine if a recommendation can be made to the City Council or if additional research will be required. Members of the task force are: Amy Hogg, a member of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board; Dave Parks and Eldon Vine, members of the Clear Lake VFW; retired pastor Dean Hess; realtor Diana Symonds; businessman and community member at large Dean Hess; City Councilman Dana Brant; and Nicole Rognes Olson, an attorney and community member at large.
