Maxine G. Kostopulos

Maxine G. Kostopulos, 95, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and formerly of Clear Lake, died Thursday, July 10, 2014, at the Bethany Lutheran Home in Council Bluffs.
 A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

 Maxine G. Christenson was born on Aug. 19, 1918 in Clear Lake, the daughter of Albert and Faye (Ruhl) Christenson. She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1936 before enrolling at Waldorf College. She graduated from both Waldorf College and Dana College with degrees in education and attended the University of Colorado in Boulder.
 Maxine taught in elementary schools throughout Iowa for nearly 45 years. Those communities included Mason City, Sioux City, Davenport, and Des Moines. Her longest tenure was spent at Bloomer School in Council Bluffs, where she taught for over 28 years before her retirement in 1983.
 She was a lifetime member of the Iowa State Education Society, the Council Bluffs Retired School Personnel Association, a 50 year member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, a charter member of Kappa Kappa Iota Sorority, and a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Council Bluffs.
 Maxine is survived by her daughter, Kristin (Tom) Trautman; and her cousins, Peter (Stephanie) Wind, Melissa (Ron) Wilson, and Kristi (Jerry) Greven.
 She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Kostopulos; and her brother, Eugene A. Christenson.
 Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
