Marian Bartleson
Marian O. Bartleson, 87, of Clear Lake, died Monday, April 29, 2013 at the Britt Medical Center in Britt, Iowa.
A funeral service for Marian was held, Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake with the Reverend Derek Yarian officiating. Burial followed in the Clear Lake Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake.
Marian Olive Bartleson, daughter of Harold and Laura (Bosworth) Balmer, was born May 25, 1925 in Corwith, Iowa. She attended many schools before graduating from Corwith High School. Following her education she taught at a country school for a year. On March 31, 1946 she was united in marriage to Carl Bartleson, and to this union three children were born, Jerry, Carlene, and Linda. Marian and Carl made their home in Clear Lake where she was a homemaker all of her life.
She loved to do crossword and jigsaw puzzles, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marian was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake and was active in the church circle for many years.
She is survived by her two daughters, Carlene (Richard) Voortmann, Garner, Iowa, and Linda Straube, Longmont, Colo.; daughter-in-law, Betsy (Tim) Holden; grandchildren, Jeramy (Kathleen) Voortmann, Kim Martin, Beth Bartleson, Tom (Patty) Straube, Jon Straube, Dan Bartleson, Amanda (Mike) Crepeau and Kirsten (Dave) Doebel; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred (Bob) Wilkins; brother, Russel (Marilyn) Balmer; half sister, Dorothy Lunsford; two half brothers, Harold and Carl Balmer; sister-in-law, Rainy Bartleson; along with many nieces, nephews, and her family at the Meadows.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl (1994); son, Jerry; sisters, Vonnie Lynch and Neva Bendlage; and brother-in-laws, Bob Lynch, Ben Bartleson, and John Bendlage.
Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
