Lunning and Heinemann lead GHV boys golf team

It was a good start to the 2014 golf season for the Garner-Hayfield/Ventura boys golf team, topping West Hancock on Friday, April 11, at the Britt Country Club. The Cardinals won by a whopping 87 strokes, 167-254.
Mitch Lunning’s 39 led the team and gave him medalist honors.

“Mitch played very well and broke 40 for the first time in this varsity career,” said Coach Ken Krause.
Despite two doubles that hurt his score, Jacob Heinemann also had a good game, carding a 41 and earning runner-up honors.
Rounding out the score was Cory Boeckman with a 43, Ryan Grunwald and Braeden Johnston both carded a 44 and Matt Schroeder recorded a 48.
“Cory, Ryan and Braeden were competitive and they will be lowering their scores with added practice,” said Krause.
GHV travels to the Mason City Country Club on Monday, April 21, where they will compete against Belmond-Klemme, Newman Catholic and North Iowa. The meet begins at 4 p.m.
