Lions score in OT to top Mohawks, 1-0

After a hard-fought battle which ended at 0-0 in regulation, the Clear Lake boys soccer team quickly scored in overtime for a 1-0 win over the Mason City Mohawks Tuesday, May 8.

Karlen Lu scored his first varsity goal just over one minute into the overtime to give the Lions a victory at home.
Lions Coach Matt Anderson said his team worked together well to get the score.  Antonio DiMarco assertively passed the ball to Jack Abbas, who got the assist on Lu’s score.
The coach noted several other Lion shots on goal just missed, bouncing away after hitting the posts.
The win was the second Clear Lake has posted over Mason City this season and one which the coach hopes will have his team building momentum as the season winds down.  The Lions will play at home again this Thursday, hosting Iowa Falls-Alden in a boy-girl varsity doubleheader.
