Lions face RRMR in Hall of Pride Scrimmage
The Lions tuned up for the 2014 season with a scrimmage against Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock Tuesday, Nov. 18. Proceeds from the event went to local charities (see related story in this edition).
“We played pretty well overall on Tuesday for our pride scrimmage,” said Coach Bart Smith. “If there were any questions about who’s going to pick up the scoring from last year, it was definitely answered by Kaye Faber. She had 26 points and was six-for-six behind the arc.”
Faber’s effort was complimented by Sidney Borrill, who was also in double digits. A handful of others also scored seven or more points.
“We are very capable of being a very good team this year,” added Smith. “It’s just going to take us a little bit longer to define roles and see where everybody fits in. As for the night, it was nice to see the community come together and donate their unwanted coats to people in need. This was a big night for everybody. I want to thank Colleen Thompson and the ENGAGE winter outerwear program for allowing us to be involved in this type of community service project. The girls learned a lot about giving and helping those less fortunate in need.”
