Lions earn runner-up honors at Hampton-Dumont Co-Ed Meet
Chandler Diercks and Jake Harle recorded a one-two finish in the long jump, then helped the 4x200 relay to a victory and the 4x100 relay to a runner-up finish at the Hampton-Dumont Co-Ed Meet Friday night.
Diercks won the long jump with a mark of 22’ 3.25” and Harle jumped 20’ 9.50” to give the Lions their only points in field
events. Diercks’ winning effort was also a new meet record. The two then joined Tre Stroeder and Aaron Boeshart to win the 4x200 in 1:35.24. In the 4x100, Diercks, Harle and Boeshart were joined by Connor Nosbisch. They placed second in 45.66.
The sprinters also did well individually, with Boeshart palcing second in the 100 meters in 11.45. Strowder was sixth in 12.0. Nosbisch was third in the 110 high hurdles in a time of 15.83. Harle also picked up a sixth place finish in the 200 meters in 23.83. Dustin King was fourth in the 400 in 54.20.
Clear Lake’s 4x110 meter shuttle hurdle with Alex Vander Ploeg, Chase Bacon, Parker Truesdell and Nosbisch, was third in 1:03. 66. The 4x800 with Alex Webb, Spencer Orr, Jake Iverson and Christian Paulsen was fifth in 9:04.33.
Charles City won the boys meet with 116.5 points. St. Ed’s was second with 102.5 and Lake Mills rounded out the top three with 78. Clear Lake was close behind with 75 points, followed by Hampton Dumont (72), Forest City (71.5), West Fork (66.5), West Hancock (63) and Belmond-Klemme (56).
