Lions blank Aplington-Parkersburg, 8-0
The Clear Lake boys soccer team was too much for Aplington-Parkersburg Friday night. The Lions blanked A-P, 8-0.
The Lions’ first score came in the seventh minute when Antonio DiMarco scored on an assist from Jack Abbas. Jack Finn scored two-minutes later, assisted by a Carson Farmer throw in.
Cody Maulsby finished an attack in the 11th minute for the third goal of the contest and the fourth goal came in the 23rd minute on a double assist. Ernie Miszewski passed the ball into the front third to Alex Gonzalez, who made the cross to Finn for the finish.
Maulsby got his second goal of the contest on another double assist from Miszewski and DiMarco in the 26th minute. Farmer tacked on another throw in assist when he found Jack Abbas in front of the keeper. Abbas played the ball to his left for a goal by Zach Zwiefel in the 32nd minute. The final goal of the half came off a long pass by Justin Jurgens to the center of the box. Jarod Anderson converted the assist with a header goal, making it 7-0 at halftime.
The final score of the contest came in the 74th minute. Birk Shaikoski converted the eighth goal off a pass from Karlen Lu.
Keeper Bryson Hamilton had three saves and earned his first shut out of the season.
“I was pleased with our efforts once the boys got into the game,” said Head Coach Matt Anderson. “Anytime you are scoring with headers in transition and double assists you are doing something right.
