Lawrence Crail

 Lawrence Neal “Larry” Crail, 82, of Clear Lake, died Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake. Time of celebrating his life and sharing memories and a Masonic Service by the Harding Masonic Lodge was held on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church. Interment with military honors will be provided at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines at a later date. Family suggests memorials to Hospice of North Iowa or a charity of your choice.

 Lawrence Neal Crail was born Aug. 23, 1931 in Melrose Park, Ill., the son of Stuart and Faye (Daniels) Crail. He was raised in the Chicago area, graduating from Proviso High School in Maywood, Ill., in 1948. Following his discharge from the U.S. Marine Corp. in 1951, he worked as a news reporter and radio announcer before joining first the Lawrence H. Sells Corp., then Abbott Laboratories in public relations.
 After bringing his family to Mason City in 1970, Larry became assistant administrator at the former North Iowa Medical Center. Following subsequent employment with Winnebago Industries in public relations, Larry became administrator at Hancock County Hospital in Britt, Iowa, retiring in 1996. He served as Iowa Masonic Grand Treasurer in 1992-1993. In 1998, he married Mary Jane Reynolds, making their home in Clear Lake. He enjoyed cooking, golfing, singing and traveling. Larry was a member of First United Methodist Church, Mason City, and Harding Masonic Lodge.
 He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Crail; daughters, Heather Sawyer and Elizabeth Crail, of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Bonnie (William) Adams, Livermore, Colo.; brothers, David Crail, Wisconsin Rapids, Phil (Madelyn) Crail, Elk Grove Village, Ill., Doug Crail, Georgia; step-daughters, Leslie (Kyle) Lagan, Lee’s Summit, Mo., Hilary (Justin) Morrow, Clear Lake, Abby Reynolds, Chicago, Ill.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stuart and Faye Daniels Crail; first wife, Thea Lokensgard; second wife, Patricia Hemsey; son, Andrew Crail; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Crail.
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
