Lady Vikes place second at Lake Mills Meet

Small in numbers, but big in talent is the best way to describe the Ventura girls track team.  The team has been putting that talent to good use, as they continue to pick up plenty of first place medals and some high team placements in area track meets.

Lake Mills Meet
The Lady Vikes scored the most team points of the season at the Lake Mills meet on Monday, April 23, and finished the night in second place with 129 points.
“All of the girls were maxed out in events.  I put girls in things they have never run before just to get us some points and they all did great,” said Coach Laura Huber.  “They ended up placing in every event we entered.  Sydney Younge, Shelby Rayhons and Miranda Frederick helped us a lot by being willing to run, throw or jump in anything I put them in.  Without these three girls we would never have gotten second.”
The Lady Vikes picked up a whopping six first place finishes.  Emily Mathews had a hand in four of those top finishes.  She was first in the long jump with a leap of 15’06.50”; first in the 100 M hurdles in a time of 16.69; first in the high jump with a jump of 4’4”  She also ran the anchor leg of the shuttle hurdle relay, which finished with a time of 1:14.85.  Other relay members included Stacy Hackenmiller, Courtney Younge and Sola Stephenson.
Emily Spilman also had a good night for the Lady Vikes, picking up a first place finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 30.20.  She ran the anchor leg of the 4x200 relay, which placed first in 2:01.61.  Other- Read More Via e-Edition
