Kibsgaard and Hewett earn post season recognition
Bailey Kibsgaard and Katie Hewett earned post season honors for the Clear Lake volleyball team. Kibsgaard was named Second Team All-Conference and Hewett earned Honorable Mention recognition for the North Central Conference.
Kibsgaard, a senior, led the team in kills with 141 for the season. She had 193 successful serves with 20 aces. She also recorded 74 blocks and 117 digs for the Lions.
Hewett led the team in blocks with 95 for the season. She was second on the team in kills with 127. She also recorded 65 digs.
The team held an awards banquet on Thursday, Nov. 7, where the following team awards were presented: Offensive MVP, Kibsgaard; Defensive MVP, Madi Faber; The Effort Award, Emily Phalen; Most Improved Player, Carney Frahm; and Lions Spirit Award, Katie Hewett.
The team will say good-bye to four talented seniors, Kibsgaard, Faber, Jemi Hamlin and Ivy Hogg.
“We will definitely miss the seniors next year, but we have seven returning juniors, along with the underclassmen to fill in the gaps. Clear Lake volleyball should be very competitive next season,” said Coach Scott Swenson.
The Clear Lake team finished the season with a 8-26 record.
