Kathy Becker

Kathy (Johnson) Becker, 73, of Clear Lake, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014, at Hospice of North Iowa.

  A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014, at First United Methodist Church, 508 2nd North Ave., Clear Lake, with the Rev. Bernie Colorado officiating. Burial will be at Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake. 

Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m., on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at Ward-Van-Slyke Colonial Colonial Chapel, 101 North 4th St., Clear Lake.  The family requests that casual attire be worn.

Kathy was born on Oct. 25, 1941, the daughter of Joseph and Helen (Cox) Johnson in Des Moines, Iowa. She was later joined in marriage to Roger Becker on July 9, 1961, and of this union had two children, Jeffrey and Joel Becker.

  Kathy enjoyed traveling to Nova Scotia, England, Scotland, Whales, Australia, New Zealand, Germany and to Kenya, in which she participated on a safari. She was an artist and enjoyed painting Santas that graced homes in seven different states. 

Keeping in contact with her friends was very important. She enjoyed having coffee with her friends and she would send daily emails to Patt Bucheister, in Key West, and Lady Margaret Cuthbert, in Birmingham, England. Kathy’s biggest joy came from her family, she loved her children, grandchildren and enjoyed cooking for them as well. 

Kathy is survived by her husband, Roger Becker, of Clear Lake; two sons, Jeffrey (Gayle) Becker, of Clear Lake, and Joel Becker, of Clear Lake; and two grandsons, Ryan and Kyle Becker.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Helen Johnson. 

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
