Jimmy Lee Leasure
Jimmy “Jim” Lee Leasure, 73, 210 W. 10th Ave., N., Clear Lake, Iowa, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012 at the North Iowa Mercy Medical Center, Mason City, Iowa.
A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Galilean Lutheran Church, Hwy 18 W., Clear Lake, with Rev. Randy Baldwin officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service on Wednesday at the
church. Military Honors will be provided by the Clear Lake V.F.W. Memorials may be given to Jimmy Lee Leasure Memorial Fund.
Jim was born July 7, 1939 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, the son of Leland James and Evelyn Anna (Robinson) Leasure. He graduated from Martins Ferry Public Academy and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp on November 26, 1956 He saw combat during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was honorably discharged April 1964. Jim married Judith Ann Sweet Sept. 8, 1962 at the Marine Corp. Chapel in Quantico, Va. They lived in Waverly, Iowa, before moving to Clear Lake in the 70’s. Jim worked for the City of Clear Lake as Assistant City Engineer and retired as City Engineer in the early 80’s. He was a loyal Ohio State Buckeye and Cleveland Browns fan.
He loved playing Farmville, spending time with his family and enjoyed Nascar racing. He was a life time member of the Clear Lake V.F.W. and a member of the Marine Corps League, and also a member of Galilean Lutheran Church.
Jim is survived by five children, Tamara Leasure, Charles City, Iowa, Leanne Hicks and her husband, Jeff, Ventura, Iowa, Jeff Leasure and his wife, Sara, Cortland, Ohio, Mary Holstad and her husband, Mark, Northwood, Iowa, and Ev Gansen and her husband Cory, Clear Lake; ten grandchildren, David (Kacey) Brandt, Robert Brandt, Cathleen Brandt, Nick Leasure, Vinny Leasure, Sofia Leasure, Mindy Holstad, Tyler Holstad, Samantha Gansen and Anthony Gansen; seven great-grandchildren; and many special cousins in Illinois and Ohio.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
