James L. Cox
James LeRoy Cox, age 72, died Nov. 30, 2013 after suffering a stroke at his home in Redstone, Colo. Jim was born Jan. 19, 1941 in Rockwell, Iowa, to Cecil (Kid) and Emma Cox.
A memorial service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at the Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Glenwwood Springs, Colo., on Dec. 21, 2013. Jim was cremated and the family will spread his ashes in Redstone. Memorials may be directed to the Salvation Army.
Jim spent his childhood in Clear Lake and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1959. He attended Northrop Institute of Technology in Inglewood, Calif., and graduated with a degree in aeronautical engineering. After proudly serving his country in the Army as an officer, Jim worked as an engineer in various aerospace companies in California, Missouri, Texas, Georgia, and Colorado. He retired from Lockheed Martin in Littleton, Colo., in 2003.
In 1977, Jim married Linda Bradley in Savannah, Ga., and in 1981 they moved to Littleton, Colo. Jim enjoyed hiking, skiing, basketball, art, music and his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, of Redstone; a stepson, Paul Poppell of Charleston, W.V.; a stepdaughter, Kathryn (Dennis) Fangman of Glenwood Springs, Colo.; a son, James Bradley Cox (Jen) of Ft. Worth, Texas; and a daughter, Dorthea Christine (Eric) Nilsen of Littleton; a brother, Glenn (Marian) Cox of Kingston, Wash.; and a sister, Jo (Bill) Dickes of Cedaredge, Colo. Jim has eight grandchildren, Lyndsay, Erin and Zac Fangman, Nicole and Courtney Poppell, Ava and Molly Nilsen, and Brayden Henderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil (1998) and Emma (2010).
