James G. Marshall

James G. Marshall, age 78, of Austin, Minn., died Friday, Feb. 14, 2014 at his winter home in Fulton, Texas. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Feb. 21, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin with Fr. James Steffes officiating.  Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin, and will continue on Friday morning for one hour prior to 

services at church.  Memorials are preferred in Jim’s memory.  Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.

He was born Aug. 14, 1935 in Mason City, to Gregory and Lauretta (Verbeckmoes) Marshall.  Jim was a graduate of Ventura High School in Ventura.  On Oct. 16, 1954 Jim was united in marriage to Janice Riekena in Forest City, Iowa.  They resided in Clear Lake, before moving to Austin in 1963.  During his working career, Jim had been employed with Greenman Heating, Sears, and managed Oak Park Mall in Austin. In 2000 he retired from Streeters in Albert Lea.  He was a long time member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin.  Jim loved to golf, enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was an avid bowler for more than 50 years.  He and Janice spent the last 13 years wintering in Fulton.

Jim is survived by his wife, Janice of Austin; children, Teresa (Mark) Ostapina, of Hartland, Wisc., Kimberly (Steve) Miller, of Austin, Rhonda (Gary) Gabrielson, of Austin, Laurie (Todd) Jorgenson, of Austin, Michelle (Chris) Murphy, of Waseca, and Randy (special friend Laura) Marshall, of Plantation, Fla.; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Pat (Candy) Marshall, of Clear Lake, Rita (Russ) White, of Ogden, Iowa; nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives and many friends.  

     He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marilyn and Mary; and his nephew, Todd. 

Worlein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
