Jacqueline Calkins

    Jacqueline Schuldt Calkins, 68, of Ventura died Friday, Nov. 11, 2011 at the Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake.
    Private graveside services were held at Concord Township Cemetery in Garner, Iowa.  Cataldo Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

    Memorials may be given in her name to ALS Research (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) in care of her sister, Judith Ann Hoppes, 15484 Bayberry Ave., Ventura, IA  50482.
    Jacqueline Schuldt Calkins, the daughter of Milton and Anestel Oleson, was born Nov. 11, 1943 at Cedar Falls, Iowa.  She graduated from Garner-Hayfield High School in 1961 and continued her education at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls.  She was married to Leon Calkins and they moved to Carlsbad, Calif.  She later returned to Iowa and worked in Mason City.  Jacque then moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa where she was employed at Square D for 39 years as a line leader in the assembly plant.  She met and married John Young in the 1980’s.  In 2006, she moved to Ventura Heights.  She enjoyed gardening, caring for her dog and frequent outings for lunch and shopping with friends.  Jacque’s activities of interest were  spending time outdoors, visiting with family and friends and going on outings in the community.
    Jacque is survived by her sister, Judith Ann Hoppes of Ventura; and a niece, Sherri (Joe) Jares of Cedar Park, Texas and their three children, John, Rebecca and Alexander.
    Jacque was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, John Young.
