J. Steve Shook

 

J. Steve Shook, 64, of 2307 1st Ave. S., Clear Lake, Iowa, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa.  

Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012 at Open Bible Church, Clear Lake, with Pastor Will Hunsaker officiating.  Burial was in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, with military honors 

provided by the Clear Lake V.F.W.   Family suggests memorials to Steve Shook memorial fund.

Steve was born June 4, 1948 in Charleston, W.Va.  He graduated from high school in Hayward, Calif.   He enlisted in the United States Navy serving in a patrol squadron during the Vietnam War; he received National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Metal and Vietnam Campaign Metal.

  He married Michele Groth May 23, 1991 in Turlock, Calif.  He worked in Human Recourses for Orchard Supply Hardware, in California until 2003 due to health issues he retired and moved to Clear Lake.  

He enjoyed riding motorcycles, boating, fishing, backpacking, playing guitar and the last nine years with his involvement in A.A.  He was a member of A.A.

He is survived by his wife Michele Shook, Clear Lake; three sisters, Sue (Fred) B., Toni (Anthony) B. and Tina C. all of California; two stepchildren, Steven Groth, Minnesota and Dianne (Stephen) Daignault, Rhode Island; step grandson, Dylan Daignault, Rhode Island; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, William C.; and two sons, John and Michael Shook.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
