ISU National Champion and Olympic wrestler to speak in Clear Lake
Two-time Iowa State National Champion and Olympic gold medalist wrestler, Ben Peterson, will speak at the Evangelical Free Church of Clear Lake on Sunday, Dec. 4, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Peterson will share his personal story, highlights and Q&A time. He will also speak at the 8 and 10:45 a.m. services.
Sunday afternoon, Peterson will attend the ISU Wrestlers Reunion at the Cy-Hawk wrestling dual at Iowa State. On Monday, Dec. 5, he will speak at an assembly at Clear Lake Middle School, assist at a wrestling practice with the middle and high school wrestlers, then wrap up his day with the Parks and Rec wrestling program.
Peterson began his wrestling career as a freshman at Cumberland (WI) High School. He lost his first seven matches but persevered and was given a partial scholarship to Iowa State University. His wrestling success caught national attention when he won back to back NCAA championships at 190 pounds.
