Haugen signs with NIACC

Clear Lake High School senior Brianna Haugen has signed a letter of intent to play volleyball for Coach Chris Brandt at North Iowa Area Community College in the fall.  Coach Brandt said she is excited to have “a wicked left-hander” on her roster in the fall.

Haugen said she is also anxious to continue playing volleyball on the collegiate level.  In addition to Coach Brandt’s leadership, she said NIACC’s affordability and being close to home appealed to her.   At CLHS, Haugen had 55 kills (96 percent kill efficiency) during her senior season.  She also served at 84.5 percent with 10 kills.   “I am very excited for Brianna to have this opportunity to receive excellent college coaching from Coach Brandt and her staff at NIACC,” added CLHS Coach Scott Swenson.  “Brianna has a tremendous upside and potential and I am looking forward to seeing her grow with her volleyball talent at NIACC.” Pictured with Haugen are Coach Chris Brandt (left), Coach Scott Swenson (standing) and her mother, Darcy VanHorn (right).-Reporter photo.
