Harry Vierkant
Harry A. Vierkant, 89, of Citrus Heights, Calif., formerly of Mason City, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011 at Roseville, Calif. Funeral services were held Sept. 27.
Harry Arnold Vierkant was born on Oct. 22, 1921 in Webster, Wis., the fifth of nine children, to parents Harry B. Vierkant and Hazel (Meachom Vierkant. He grew up on a farm south of Mason City, and attended country school.
Harry married Lois Campbell from Rockwell, Iowa in 1941. Harry worked for area farmers for a number of years before they moved to Mason City, where he drove city bus. They later moved to Clear Lake and he worked for Allied Mills. They moved to California in the middle 50’s where Harry did construction work.
Harry was well known for his handyman skills. After he retired he started “Harry’s Fix It” out of his home.
Harry and Lois enjoyed 67 years together before Lois passed away in 2008.
Harry is survived by his son, Donald (Lorraine) Vierkant of Orem, Utah; daughter, Beverly Klaesson, Citrus Heights, Calif.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Elmer (Mary Jo) Vierkant, Descanso, Calif.; one sister, Hazel Darg, Rockwell; one brother-in-law, Victor Parks, Rockwell; one sister-in-law, Wilda Vierkant, Springfield, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and three brothers, Benjamin, David Newton and Paul Vierkant; three sisters, Faye in infancy, Ruth Kohler and Helen Parks; brothers-in-law, Karl Kohler and Robert Darg; sisters-in-law, Hilda Vierkant and Nora Bremner, and father and mother-in-law, Joe and Pearl Campbell.
