Girls compete at North Central Conference Track Meet

    A trio of fifth place finishes was the best the Clear Lake girls track team could post at the North Central Conference track meet held Monday, May 7, at Clarion.  The Lions finished 10th in the 10-team field with 23 points.  Algona won the team title with 159 points, easy outdistancing runner-up Bishop Garrigan with 91.

    Trudy Peterson finished fifth in the 800 meter run in a time of 2:33.23 and anchored the Distance Medley relay team to a fifth place finish in 4:35.20.  Other members of that relay included Peyton Huey, Caitlin Harle and Brittany Bieber.
    Katie Hewett earned Clear Lake’s other fifth place by throwing the discus 96’ 5.5”.
    Other placewinning performances by the Lions included: Steph Faught, sixth in the 3000 meter run in 12:16.48; Sidney Borrill, seventh in the high jump, clearing 4’ 8”; and Sierra Greiman, eighth in the 1500 in 5:33.39.
    The 4x400 relay was seventh in a time of 4:36.51 with Jaci Ullrich, Brittany Bieber, Borrill and Peterson.  The shuttle hurdle relay was also seventh with Erin Borgman, Mindy Allenstein, Ali Petersburg and Aspen Curtis.
    The 4x100 relay was eighth with Borgman, Brianna Haugen, Petersburg and Shelby Dickes running a time of 56.59.
