GHV wrestlers compete in St. Ansgar Tournament
The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura wrestlers competed in the St. Ansgar Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 7. The team ended the day with a 2-2 record.
“We wrestled very well on Saturday,” said Coach Steve Smith. “Tucker Datema wrestled a great match in the New
Hampton dual. For his first year out, he gave that kid everything he wanted.”
Colby Reid and Dalton Basinger went 4-0 on the day. Nic Tusha, Cade Baker, Connor Shaw, Brady Baker and AJ Arnold all ended the day with a 3-1 record.
GHV topped Austin by one point, 40-41. Picking up wins were: Austin Oborny, 126 pounds, won by fall, 1:04; Basinger, 132, won by fall, 4:34; Arnold, 138, won by fall, 4:58; Reid, 145, won by fall, 4:31; Cade Baker, 170, won by major decision, 11-0; Tusha, 220, won by fall, 2:11; and Brady Baker, 285, won by fall, 1:20.
Clarksville took the next match, 54-22. Winning for GHV was Austin Case, 106, won by forfeit; Bassinger, won by forfeit; Reid, won by decision, 5-3; Connor Shaw, 152, won by major decision, 11-2; Baker, decision, 9-2.
GHV dominated RRMR, 51-18. Picking up wins were: Dornbier, won by forfeit; Basinger, decision, 7-2; Arnold won by fall, 2:28; Reid, won by fall, 2:48; Shaw won by fall; Datema won by forfeit, Cade Baker and Tusha both won by forfeit.
New Hampton won the final match, 45-24. Winning for GHV was: Basinger won by decision, 12-7; Arnold, decision, 5-4; Reid won by fall, 1:12; Shaw, decision, 4-3; Tusha won by forfeit; Brady Baker won by decision, 7-5.
