Austin Oborny and AJ Arnold both finished in fourth place, while Conner Shaw lost in a wrestle back.

Oborny, who wrestles at 126-pounds, was pinned in the first round by Story City’s Parker Witthuhn in 3:41.  He was pinned in the second round by Spencer Orr, of Clear Lake, in 3:56.

At 132-pounds, Arnold lost by technical fall in the first round to Mitchell Broer, of Ballard, 17-2.  He lost by major decision, 10-2, in the second round to Jake Miller, of Humboldt.

Shaw, who wrestles at 152-pounds, dropped a 6-0 decision to Tanner Hild, of Webster City, in the first round.  Shaw pinned Tristan Gibson, of Gilbert, in 3:15.  He had a wrestle back against Kory Kueker, of Algona.  Shaw lost by major decision, 10-2.

“On the day, all three wrestled very well.  All three had pretty tough draws for the opening round.  Conner’s wrestle back was a great match right up to the very end,” said Coach Steve Smith.  “This has been a great year.  Although the seniors will be missed, we are headed in the right direction and have a lot of young guys coming back.”
