GHV girls golf team picks up two more wins
The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura girls golf team hosted North Iowa on Monday, May 5. Despite the Cardinals beating North Iowa, 218 to 237, Coach Todd Greiman was not happy with his team’s performance.
“I was very disappointed to see us finish with our worst score of the season on the nicest day to play,” said Greiman. “It seemed that there were a lot of things going wrong with everyone’s game and we found ourselves getting penalty strokes that we usually don’t have.”
GHV’s Kyleigh Slaichert and Elly Johnston were the medalists. Slaichert shot a 50, while Johnston carded a 55. Rounding out the scoring was Tamara O’Hara, 56; Whitney Watson, 57; Madee Hejna, 61; and Kim Dornbier, 65.
Earlier in the week, the team played Forest City. The Cardinals recorded a score of 206.
Hejna was the medalist with a 48. Dornbier was the runner-up with a 50. Also playing was Slaichert, 53; O’Hara, 55; Johnston, 57; and Kayla Stoychoff, 58.
“Very strong winds made for a difficult day to play, but the girls didn’t seem to be affected by the conditions,” said Greiman.
