GHV girls blank opponent, 10-0

The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura girls soccer team opened the 2014 season strong on Monday, April 7, by shutting out CAL/Hampton-Dumont/Belmond-Klemme 10-0.

“Anytime you score 10 goals and only allow one shot on goal, it is a good day,” said Coach Josh Banse.  “We played very well on both sides of the field.”

Bri Bier got the game rolling with two consecutive goals.  Riannan Kadrlik led the team with three goals.  Adding one goal apiece was Shelby Rayons, Maddie Tusha, Tiara Van Gerpen and Mallory Keech.  Mackenzie Haag recorded one penalty kick.

Payton Bamrick and Emily Spilman led the team in assists with two apiece.  Sydney Childress, Mackenzie Haag and Bri Bier each had one assist.

Goalie Sam Betz had one save for the night.

“Everyone played well together tonight and I think people will start to put us on their radar,” said Banse.

The girls travel to Mason City on Thursday, April 17.
