GHV falls to C-G-D in first golf meet of the season
Nerves and a tricky course led the Garner-Hayfiled/Ventura boys golf team to drop their first meet of the season. They lost by five strokes to Clarion-Goldfield-Dows on Monday, April 6, at Claremont Golf Course in Clarion. C-G/D carded a 182 to the Cardinal’s 187.
Grady Umburger led the team with a 45.
“Grady struck the ball well, but had some problems with the short game,” said Coach Ken Krause.
Braedan Johnston shot a solid 46, followed by Jordan Babcock with a 47 and Ryan Grunwald with a 49. Rounding out the roster was Payton Stadtlander with a 50 and Matthew Heineman ended with a 57.
“It is early in the season and the squad has been working and improving their game.”
