GHV boys open track season

The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura boys track team competed at the Buena Vista College Indoor Meet on Friday, March 21. The meet was optional for team members.
 In field events, Braden Meints tied for fifth in the high jump, with a jump of 5’10”; Nic Tusha was 10th in the shot put with a toss of 42’04”.
 Joel Toppin had a stellar day, winning the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:57.27.

 Other top 10 individual finishes went to Adam Monson, who was third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.30 and 10th in the 60 meter dash in 7.58. Corey Hauptmann was eighth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 57.40.
The distance medley relay was the highest placing relay, finishing in 15th place with a time of 4:21.64. Members of the relay included Logan Rohlfing, Tusha, Jon Haag and Luke Wolf.
  “While we haven’t been able to get much practice outside, the Buena Vista meet was another great opportunity for the boys to compete.  We are looking forward to starting the outdoor season,” said Coach Kelsey Steffens.
