Gary Garlinghouse
Gary Lee Garlinghouse, 58, Mason City, Iowa, went to be with our heavenly father on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014 at the Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa, Mason City.
A Memorial Service was held on, Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014 at the Open Bible Church, 609 S. 8th St., Clear Lake, with Rev. Will Hunsaker officiating. Military Honors
were presented by the Clear Lake V.F.W. Inurnment was at Grant Township Cemetery, rural Fertile, Iowa. According to his wishes, his body has been cremated. Memorials may be given to the Gary L. Garlinghouse Memorial Fund.
Gary was born Aug. 31, 1955, the son of Mary Ann (Thayer) and Wade Baago in Hampton, Iowa. Gary attended school in Iowa Falls, Owasa, Alden and finished his schooling in Clear Lake. He then went on to join the U.S. Army serving in the Corp of Engineers in 1971 with an honorable discharge in 1974.
Gary married Julie Olson in 1977 and to this union were two sons and two stepdaughters. He later married Deb Setterholm, adding children Chris and Jeremy. They made their home in Mason City.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Deb Garlinghouse; his parents, Mary Ann and Wade Baago; sisters, Mary Meyer and Cindy Seymore; brothers, Jeff, Thaddeus, and Larry Garlinghouse; children, step-daughter, Samantha Darling and her family, sons, Adam Jon Garlinghouse and his family, and Gary Garlinghouse Jr. and his family, stepson, Chris Setterholm and his family, and stepson, Jeremy Setterholm. Gary leaves behind 15 grandchildren as well.
Gary was preceded in death by his grandparents; father, Larry Garlinghouse; sister, Janie Ebaugh; and stepdaughter, Stacy Olson.
Ward-Van Slyke Colonia Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
