Frederick Koch

Frederick “Fred” Koch, former president of Metro Bancorporation, parent of Waterloo Savings Bank (now US Bank) and a longtime summer resident of Clear Lake, died July 11. He was 84. He had suffered without complaint several physical complications of ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). The Koch family has enjoyed happy summers at the Clear Lake Outing Club since 1967.
Survivors include his daughter, Katy Koch Campbell of Edina, Minn.; his son, Fritz Koch of Ward, Colo.; grandsons, Jack Frederick Campbell and Baxter Quigley Koch.

He was preceded in death in 2010 by his wife of 53 years, Beverly Baker Koch.
A memorial service luncheon is scheduled for noon on Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Elks Lodge in Waterloo, Iowa. Burial will be in the Des Moines Masonic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
Fred will be remembered for his gracious presence at the side of his socially present wife, and as a true gentleman who gifted his friends and family with a sparkle in his beautiful blue eyes and ample doses of dry wit.
