Frances Mae Meyer
Frances Mae Meyer, 81, formerly of Ventura, Iowa, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at the Hampton Rehabilitation Center, Hampton, Iowa.
A funeral service was held on Monday, June 25 at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with Rev. Daird Korth officiating. Interment was at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hwy 122 W., Mason City, Iowa. Memorials may be given to the Frances Meyer Memorial Fund.
Frances was born May 4, 1931 in Latimer, Iowa, the daughter of George and Alvina (Pralle) Muhlenbruch. She attended St. Paul’s Parochial School in Latimer. Following school, she worked summers in Clear Lake, at Witke’s Restaurant and various places. Frances met Alvin Meyer Jr. at the Surf Ballroom and they were united in marriage on June 12, 1960. To this union three children were born: Cindy, Jeff, and Rick. Frances and Alvin lived on their farm most of their life, retiring to Ventura.
Frances was the perfect farm wife, working with the turkeys, hogs and livestock, along with making sure all the workers were well fed. She loved being a full time mother, gardening and baking. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, going to their activities and sharing in their lives. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Frances is survived by her children, Jeff Meyer, Garner, Iowa, Cindy Dvorak, Ventura, and Rick Meyer and his wife, Michelle, Iowa Falls, Iowa; five grandchildren, Laura Huling and her husband, Tyson, Davenport, Iowa, Jenny Dvorak, Waterloo, Iowa, Josh Meyer, Ames, Iowa and Ben and Kayla Meyer, Iowa Falls; twin brother, Fred Muhlenbruch, Latimer, and sister, JoAnne Mills, Waukee, Iowa; sister-in-law, Melba Muhlenbruch and several nieces and nephews, along with many relatives and friends.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin (November 20, 2008); son-in-law, Phil Dvorak (2004); her parents; sister, Alice Stock; and brother, Howard Muhlenbruch.
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
