Fire destroys shed owned by local contractor
Clear Lake and Ventura Fire Departments responded to a building fire in rural Clear Lake Monday morning. The building, owned by Meints Construction, was a total loss.
Crews were on the scene for more than two hours extinguishing the blaze.
The building, located on Finch Avenue, just south of Clear Lake State Park, was used for lumber storage.
Clear Lake Fire Chief Doug Meyers said the fire was started when workers were burning some trash in an outdoor pile and the wind direction shifted and blew embers into the open building, igniting some of the components inside.
The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene and public works department employees from the City of Clear Lake helped to shuttle water.
There were no injuries as a result of the fire.
