Faber and Spilman compete in All-Star Game; Smith coaches winning team

A pair of local basketball standouts participated in the Iowa Girls Coaches Association Larry Niemeyer Senior All-Star Game played Saturday, March 28, at Kirkwood College, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Clear Lake Head Basketball Coach Bart Smith coached the winning Class 3A team, which included Clear Lake’s Kaye Faber and Emily Spilman, from Garner-Hayfield/Ventura. 

The team won, 98-81, and Spilman was named the teams’ Most Valuable Player.  She scored 14 points;  Faber put in 16 points for the team.

Players were selected in January to participate in the annual tournament.

Other members of the team included: Emily Johnson, of Sheldon; Jordon Fischer, East Sac County; Grace Blomstedt, Red Oak; Kayla Mobley, Green County; Bailee Arnburg, West Central Valley, Stuart; Brooklyn Allgood, Saydel; Jill Vander Plaats, Sioux Center; and Madison Sickles, Crestwood, Cresco.
